Lewis (Ludwig) Ehbrecht, March 1, 1774 Lewis was a son of Paul Ehbrecht of Cocalico in Lancaster County. The Stover Records show that Paul Ebrecht married Barbara Margaretha Sauter of Warwick February 10, 1747, They had sons Adam, Jacob and Lewis. Lewis served in the Revolution according to the Newberry Index. Records of St. Daniels (Corner) Church list the family under the name of Ludwig Ehbrecht. 1. The 1785 tax list for Heidelberg Township includes Ludwig Ebright at Middletown (later known as Womeisdorf). The family appears to have moved after 1785. Variations in the spelling of the name makes tracing difficult. A possible descendant was Eva Susanna Ehebrecht (1801-1874), wife of John Dochterman. She was buried at Pine Grove next to John Bonawitz (1795-1888). 1850 census records show John Docktemane in Tremont Township with Susan and three children; Henry born 1843, Hannah born 1847, and Kitty born 1849. This census record shows Susan, born 1812. It is possible that the tombstone birth date was in error. John and Susanna were living In Pine Grove Township in 1870.
