   Jonas was a farmer and carpenter. His farm was about 1 1/2 miles 
   north of Berrysburg and was adjacent to the original homestead 
   which George Bonawitz bought In 1809. Catherine was a daughter 
   of John Adam Lenker and his wife Maria M. Bobb.
   1. Isaac Newton Bonawitz, (9/4/1851-  /  /1924)   bur. Elizabethville.
      m. Malinda Hepner,      (1855-1935)                "          " 
      Isaac farmed his father's homestead until about 1898. He had his 
      own sawmill. He built many houses after moving to Elizabethville.
      He was Constable there for many years.
      1. Elizabeth Adline Bonawitz, (2/5/1874-  /  /1935 )died Allentown. 
         m. Clement Bryant Stroup, (  /  /1864-  /  /1935)  "      "
         Clement was a son of John and Salome Stroup of Elizabethville.
         Clement had drug stores at Allentown and Elizabethville.
         Elizabeth taught school. Both are buried at Elizabethville.
         1. Miles G. Stroup, born June 15, 1899 at Elizabethville. 
            m. Eleanor Carolyn Moran, (6/26/1904-7/19/1966) 
            Miles graduated from Kalamazoo College and was Recreation 
            Director for Newark Board of Education. He now conducts 
            Cook Tours on occasion. Eleanor was a daughter of John J. 
            Moran and his wife Theresa A. Maher.
            1. Miles G. Stroup Jr., born May 7, 1928 in Indiana, Pa. 
               m. Ruth A. Starbord, in 1948. Of Springfield, Mass. 
               Miles is Vice Principal of a school at Livingston,
               New Jersey. Their children are Martha, Peter, 
               Matthew, Valery, Karen and Barbara. Ages 20 down to 5. 
            2. Thomas C. Stroup, born December 13, 1931 at E. Orange.
               m. Elizabeth A. Stankowski, June 14, 1952. Of Duryea,Pa.
               Thomas is a Lieutenant with the Essex County Police at
               Livingston, N. J. Their children are Beverly, Andrea Mae, 
               Mary Elizabeth, Susan E, Timothy Gerard, and Carolyn. 
         2. John Russell Stroup, born April 1, 1902 at Elizabethville. 
            m. Celia Carr, June 18, 1928. They live Newtonville, Mass. 
               1. Betty Ann Stroup, 
                  married Newton Hinkley. 3 children. 
               2. Sue Ellen Stroup, 
                  married Harlan Gilbert. 3 children.
