Wm. Allen Bonewitz, (8/30/1839-10/31/1895) Died at Congress, Ohio. 
   m. Hannah Mariah Matthews, May 14, 1863 (3/17/1844-12/20/1928) 
   William and Hannah married at Enon Valley, Pa. Before his marriage 
   he lived with Gideon Muller and worked as a tanner. He later had a 
   tannery at Congress and also farmed near Congress. He was a township 
   clerk in 1865 (see History of Wayne County by Ben Douglas). His 
   family Bible is now in the possession of Carl Bonewit, of Wooster. 
   Hannah was a descendant of Adam Poe, the Indian fighter. Myrtle Ross 
   Hawken of Wooster assisted in collecting information for this chapter.

         m. F. Paoli Sheppard, (3/4/1864-xx/xx/xxxx) They lived near Congress 
            1. Laura Sheppard, born Jan 6, 1883, 
            married            Ball, 
            She was living at Burbank, Ohio in 1964.  Had children. 
         2. A male (4/14/1885
         3. Edgar Sheppard, (5/23/1887-              lived near Congress. 
         4. Clifford Sheppard, (1/15/1890-3/11/1961) twins 
         5. Claude Sheppard, (1/15/1890-             lived near Congress. 
         6. Hugh T. Sheppard, born October 14, 1891. Lives at Wooster. 
         7. Orren Sheppard, (8/13/1893-11/10/1961) Buried Wooster Cemetery.
            m. Louella Feighter, lived at Overton, Ohio. 
         8. Dwight Sheppard, (1/24/1899-11/30/1918) born at Lodi, Ohio. 
         9. Esther Sheppard, born Lodi Feb 24, 1901, 
            married Joe Myers.
            They live at Overton, have a daughter and a grandchild. 
        10. Harriet Sheppard, born Oct 4, 1903 at Lodi 
            m. Harold Huff, after her mother died. 
   2. William Ohio Bonewitz, (1866-10/3/1900)
      Twins. Neither had children. Said not to have lived very long.

   4. Charles C. Bonewit, (5/23/1874-7/19/1933) Buried at Congress, Ohio. 
      m. Nellie Maude Briggs, Nov 3, 1894 (  /  / -5/10/1931) "      " 
         Nellie was born at Congress, a daughter of Frank and Alice Briggs. 
         They lived at West Salem, Congress and Orrville. The mother and 
         some of the children died of tuberculosis and the rest of the 
         family became separated. There was a family Bible.
