Esli S. Bonewitz, (10/2/1832-9/8/1907) 
m. Mary Elizabeth Chasey, April 19, 1855 (1836-7/29/1895) 
   They farmed in Wayne County. Esli served in Co E 120th Regt 
   0 V I from 1862 to 1865, becoming a corporal. He was a Township 
   Trustee in 1871. The family moved to North Manchester, Indiana in 
   1875. Esli was a butcher In 1880. He is buried in Oaklawn Cemetery. 
   It appears, from census records, that Mary's parents were Samuel 
   and Saloma Chasey, and that she was a sister of Margaret, wife of 
   Lewis Bonewitz of Chapter 28. Eight children were born to Esli 
   and Mary, but only three lived to marry. 
    1. Mary S. Bonewitz, (1858-1952) 
       m. Daniel Sheller,             They lived at North Manchester. 
          1. Mae Sheller, born in 1880.
             m.           Hays.  Mae had a dress shop at Washington, D. C. 
             Mae and her daughter now live at Bethesda, Maryland.
                1. Aileen Hays, married           Hardesty. 
          2. Otto Sheller, of North Manchester. 
          3. Dr. Foster F. Sheller, of  Culver, Indiana.
          4. Ernest Sheller, of North Manchester. 
   2. Albertus S. Bonewitz, (1862-1919) 
      m. Mary Arbalin Cummins, (    -1911) 
      Albertus was a salesman. He died at North Manchester. Mary was 
      a sister of Elfie who married Jacob Bonewitz of Chapter 23. 
         1. Merle M. Bonewitz, (1886-1933)
            Merle never married. He lived at North Manchester. 
         2. Rolland L. Bonewitz, a twin (1890-1957) 
            m. Eulalia Hipp, 
            Rolland was in Railway Mail Service. He lived in Chicago. 
            Eulalia still lives in Chicago.
               1. Ernestine Bonewitz, was living in Chicago in 1962. 
               2. Kathleen Bonewitz, was deceased in 1962.
