John Esli Bonewitz, (1/31/1835-4/18/1898) 
m. Josephine Smith, May 18, 1856.
The dates and marriage information was supplied by Blanche 
Bonawitz of Missoula, Montana. The only later record found 
was in the 1880 census of Omaha, Nebraska. It was recalled that he 
visited relatives in Indiana before his death. No descendents 
are known to be living and it is believed that there are none. 
The 1880 census of Omaha appears unreliable in some respects, 
but two sons are apparent. Josephine did not appear in the census.

1. 0. S. Bonewitz, born about 1856.
   He was single in 1880 and was an upholsterer. 
2. R. E. Bonewitz, born about 1861. 
   He was living with his father in 1880.
