Part 2 Chapter 10 Page 1 Feb 1968Daniel Bonawitz, (4/11/1814-1/24/1891) Buried at Linglestown. m. 1st Eva Catherine Langel or Laugel, Dec 1, 1836 (1/17/1809-4/15/1840 Daniel was in the Linglestown area in 1850 but was farming in South Hanover Township in later years. The year of Eva's death is not known positively, but the year 1840 is believed to be correct. Both wives are buried at Linglestown. Daniel left a will in which he named his children. Catherine was executor. 1. Catherine A. Bonawitz, (4/22/1839-1/7/1914) Bur. at Linglestown. Catherine did not marry. Daniel married second Catherine, (8/21/1806-6/16/1870) 2. Elizabeth A. Bonawitz, (3/5/1841-8/24/1919) m. Elias Shope, No children. 3. Barbara A. Bonawitz, (3/4/1847-10/5/1911) m. William M. Schaeffer. They were in West Hanover Twp. in 1882. 2. Daniel Bonawitz, (7/4/1844-12/21/1925) Bur. Union Deposit Gemetery. m. Hannah Umberger, (8/11/1840-11/2/1915) " " " Daniel farmed. He and Hannah, were instrumental in forming a Lutheran Church, in which his descendants are still active. 1. Daniel Peter Bonawitz, (7/24/1879-3/6/1959), Union Deposit Gem. m. Elizabeth J. Ebersole, (8/11/1880-12/20/1958) " " Daniel continued in the farming tradition. Before he died he signed the farm over to Bessie and Carrie who had stayed home and helped with the farming. Elizabeth was a daughter of John I. and Kate F. Ebersole. They were farming near Abilene, Kansas when Kate died. John brought the children back to Pennsylvania for relatives to raise. 1. Margaret May Bonawitz, born Hovember 30, 1902. m. Kelson J. Alleman, in 1920 They live near Hummelstown, have six children. 2. Catherine Bonawitz, born March 28, 1906. m. Brook Potteiger, They live near Linglestown, have two children. 3. Emma Bonawitz, born December 5, 1907. Emma did not marry. Her address is Hummelstown, RFD.
