As a child growing up my father, James Edwin Bonewits, (Part 2, Chapter 19, page 9) use to sing these little ditties to us. He said he got them from his Grandpa. Don't know which Grandpa, Bonewits or Harbin. I have not heard them in many a years. When I figure out the musical notation, I'll add that here too.

The Snuff Box Song
Once I put some pepper in my Pop's snuff box.
The way he acted was a sight to see.
Well he coughed and he sneezed,
'til I thought he'd have a fit.
Then he took me out and tickled me.
I was always being tickled,
by someone around the house,
but why, I could never see.
But Granma's apple-butter paddle,
will never tickle you,
Cause they wore it out a ticklin' me! |
The Peanut Song
Peanut sitin' on a railroad track,
his heart was all a flutter.
Train comes roarin' down the track,
toot-toot, peanut-butter.
